Day 256: You’re Gonna Be Okay

The past year and (almost) a half has been a seemingly long journey of pain and suffering. Between accepting my diagnosis, going through the process of the transplant, and then experiencing numerous post-transplant complications, there have been many (what my doctor likes to call) close calls.

I cannot be confident in saying that tomorrow will be a better day. I cannot know for sure when all of this will be a distant memory. And to be really honest, I cannot seem to visualise my future no matter how hard I try.

But for some reason, I’m still here. I am still alive. I still have breath in me. I may look a little bruised and battered, but still, I open my eyes in the morning to discover a brand new day.

That is how I know that I’m covered. And that I’m showered daily by grace and unrivalled power. All I have to do is hold onto hope, and take everyday one step at a time. Because this is not the end. Because light has overcome darkness. And that is the truth and the promise.

This dance video project was so brilliantly filmed and edited by Darius, and danced beautifully and powerfully by MOVE Dance Productions. And I cannot put to words how amazing Shawna and Winny have been at birthing, choreographing and bringing this project to life! Thank you for gifting me the opportunity to dance, to create, and to dream again.

This is a love letter to you:

 I pray that hope finds you;
 That you allow unconditional love to take away your fears.
I pray that you don’t give up;
That you are reminded of the fighter you are.                                                                            That another day means you are one step closer to victory.
My deepest prayer though, is that you know that you are loved.
 You are loved. You are loved. You are loved.
So to you, beloved, you’re gonna be okay.

Ps. Thank you Bethel Music and Jenn Johnson for creating this song and releasing it so timely. It gave me hope and strength while I was struggling with Graft-versus-host-disease.
